SH/SM/SL CLASS-STATION SILICONE SURGE ARRESTERS Up to 1200kV -CAGE DESIGN
qúatro-grid® offers cage made of glass fiber rods around metal oxide varistors. Glass fiber rods are braced according to patented system and directly encapsulated with silicone. There is no internal gas volume and therefore no sealing or pressure relief device is required.
Mains voltage Um: up to 1200 kV (for some applications also higher on request)
Fixed short time load (SSL): up to 36 kNm

qúatro-grid offers Glass fiber tube with internal gas volume. The silicone screens are applied directly to the fiberglass tube.
Mains voltage Um: up to 1200 kV (for some applications also higher on request)
Fixed short time load (SSL): up to 40 kNm
Key points:
– Excellent contamination behavior due to the high hydrophobic behavior of the silicone
– highest safety reserves in case of electrical and mechanical overloads, no ejection of internal parts in case of short circuit
– 75% of the mechanical stability is retained even after a short circuit/pressure relief
– easier transport than with porcelain arresters (lower risk of damage)
– Installation similar to porcelain arresters, but lighter weight

qúatro-grid's i Metal oxide varistors are braced in a cage of glass fiber rods and are fixed in a hollow insulator made of glazed porcelain. This creates a cavity which is filled with inert gas. This requires a sealing and pressure relief system.
Mains voltage Um: up to 1200 kV
Fixed short time load (SSL): up to 55 kNm

qúatro-grid provides Gas-insulated surge arrester AZ is constructed from a stack of serially connected – extremely non-linear metal-oxide (MO) resistors in a metallic enclosure under pressurized SF6-gas. The special design with high-field blocks allows reduction of the size of the surge arrester, which is an important factor for GIS.
These surge arresters are designed and type-tested according to IEC 62271-203 and IEC 60099-4.
Surge arresters are used to protect the insulation of gas-insulated switchgear as well as the connecting cables and transformers against transient lightning and switching overvoltages.
The surge current monitoring system SAM 3.0 is capable of sensitively registering surges from lightning and switching in combination with total leakage current. The values are shown digitally on an electronic display. It consists of a current sensor with selectable cable lengths and a display device which can be mounted apart from the arrester.
